Small Business Content Marketing
To be successful, we need to step out of our comfort zone. It’s difficult to do – it’s cozy there in our comfy zone. However, personal and professional growth happens outside of our comfort zone; it’s where we have new experiences.
If you’re blogging a lot for your business, or to help your sales career, then you’ve likely found your voice. You have your zone.
Experimenting and pushing against self-imposed limits will help you improve your writing. You will put more tools in your communication toolbox. Plus, it’ll be fun.
So, how do we get out of our comfort zone? Easy, just do it! Here are a few ideas.
- Assuming you’re blogging about your industry, try writing about your perspectives on business in general. Write a few articles that tell stories about your own experiences. Write about an uncomfortable situation and be vulnerable.
- Share personal stories that communicate life lessons. This allows your reader to get to know a little better.
- Do a video blog entry. It doesn’t need to be fancy. Just use your phone or tablet to record yourself. You’ll hate seeing yourself, but the video is for the readers of your blog and not for you.
- Change your format. If you usually blog your ideas, try blogging about a colleague, business, or person you like. You can even call them and interview them.
The point is, you have more ability to communicate than you might think. Your blog is an important touch point where your prospects, clients, and colleagues can get to know you – take full advantage of it.
